You may be a registered disabled person of any age.

You may be the parent(s) or guardian(s) of a registered disabled person.

You may be the partner of a registered disabled person.

You need help, guidance and support. Someone who is listening to you.

For example:

Your own case has settled and you have the capacity to look after your own finances and care. So you may need property, design, adaptation and construction advice.

You are parents/guardians and need help in providing accessible accommodation so your loved one can lead their best life.

In both cases, this may require finding a new temporary or permanent home to adapt or the adaptation of your current home.

The FOX & FOX team are here to make things simple and to let you know what is going on. You are the important party at the centre of this whole process and we never lose sight of that. Read below for more details.

Your Needs

The most crucial part of the process. It is essential we have a clear understanding of our client’s circumstances and needs to ensure we are crystal clear on what has to be considered when securing short or long term accommodation.

This of course involves the client themselves but also the wider client team, Deputies/Case Managers/Occupational Therapists and other professionals and the preparation of formal reports.

We don’t want our clients to compromise. Considerable time is taken to ensure we really understand the brief, and this of course involves careful multi agency working and an understanding of the different perspectives and agendas of those involved.

Many clients talk about feeling fatigued from repeating their ‘story’ over and over again and having to justify their needs. We take this into account by using a considered approach and utilising all the information that’s been provided previously.

Key to the success of this, is management of client expectations both in terms of what can practically and aesthetically be achieved, but also with regards to managing budgets, timescales and the relationships with contractors and other agencies.

It is imperative they have a clear understanding of what is affordable and what may need to be self-funded. This is at times a sensitive topic, however it is essential this is clarified in the early stages to avoid abortive work and more importantly disappointment, especially in view of the clients quite often fragile position.

Your Home

The process can sometimes feel overwhelming for our clients. Most never thought they would find themselves in this position and clients and families often do not feel fully equipped or energised to take on a property search or adaptation project. We take this stress from them and work honestly and transparently with them and their team most often including care staff, families, Occupational Therapists and their Deputy or Solicitor to achieve the best outcomes.

This means getting the costs right, getting the location right, getting the adaptations right, getting the aesthetics right and most importantly ensuring it ‘feels’ right. This is not an easy task and takes time, patience and lots of collaborative working. Each clients needs are different and we will strive to achieve the best for them, whether this is the addition of a ramp, or a large hydrotherapy pool; whatever the scheme, each aspect is just as important.

The scheme design is a collaborative process that is carefully managed to ensure everyone is heard and understood at every stage. Our team work closely to ensure time and space is given for our clients to assess the progress and contribute their thoughts before we move forward at each stage. For some clients this is an exciting part of the process, for others, the design stage is totally overwhelming. Either way we have it covered. We will engage responsively to make this part as seamless as possible. This might include viewing many layout plans, looking at our portfolio for inspiration, using visual aids, samples, visiting showrooms, viewing photos, the internet and in some cases visiting accommodation and pools, for example, to ensure the client is clear about what they want.

Your Team

You are not alone. We are here to help. Everyone is different and everyone has unique requirements, both in terms of what they need in their home, and how they need supporting.

It’s far removed from a one size fits all and our service is tailor made to the individual in this regard.

We are well rehearsed in working with a range of third party clients; Deputies, Solicitors, Occupational Therapists, Case Managers, Specialist Therapists and Carers all feed into the process.

It is our job to liaise with these different stakeholders effectively. To do this we ensure we have an extensive understanding of their position and role in the process and that we’re clear about the information they need.

They are updated throughout the process and we work collaboratively with them, the client and/or their family throughout.
